Do "CC" Coins Get Melted

With the recent rise in gold and silver prices alot of common date coins get melted, one wonders if any carson city coins get melted I hope not. But I think that coins that are damaged or badly worn do get melted. By the way I got a silver quarter and dime as change I couldn't belive that silver coins still circulated!!!

I sure hope that "CC" coins,as well as all historic U.S.coins are not being melted with the possible exception of common date coins with major numismatic abuse. Our beloved "CC" coins should be protected under antiquities laws. They are as precious and mean as much to our American culture and history as the Egyptian artifacts mean to theirs. If this abuse is going on, how could we find out?
